The San Francisco Young Democrats support young leaders in their aspirations to learn about the Democratic process and become politically involved. We represent the issues of young people through activism, outreach and endorsements.

MAKE A DONATION

Your contribution assists us in hosting regular membership meetings, workshops, candidate forums, and various other events, as well as sending a delegation of SFYD members to California Democratic Conventions and various other Democratic events.

ATTEND AN EVENT

SFYD holds many events throughout the year including workshops to train future leaders of the Democratic Party, mixers and networking events, banquets and award ceremonies to honor our community heroes, and a number of forums and debates to better inform you.

Fast Facts

SFYD is a flagship chapter under the California Young Democrats (CYD), which is part of the Young Democrats of America (YDA). We are also chartered with the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC).

Our members are from a wide range of sectors and backgrounds, including:

  • Elected Officials, including County Supervisors, Board of Education members, City College Board Trustees, UC Board of Regents members, and members of the DCCC

  • Government, Nonprofit, Labor, Electoral, and Private Sector Professionals

SFYD is the largest Young Democrat club in the state and one of the largest Democratic clubs in San Francisco.

 

1947

FOUNDING YEAR

The club was founded in 1947 by Phil Burton, Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett and others to be a political group for young Democrats that work or live in San Francisco. Learn more here.
